Baker's fastest official cross-country time was 53.5 hours in a 1933 Graham.

Long after 'Cannonball Baker' had passed away the 'Cannonball' legend continued, as did the quest to race across America as quickly as possible. A 'semi-official' rally began in the early 1970s under the name of the 'Gumball' continuing the pioneering spirit that he had created, and the New York to Los Angeles record was set at an impressive 33 hours 12 minutes!
