"Oxfam International is a confederation of twelve non-governmental organizations working together in more than 80 countries to find lasting solutions to poverty, suffering and injustice. The Oxfams are strategic funders of development projects; provide emergency relief in times of crisis; and campaign for social and economic justice.
Oxfams believe that poverty is a state of powerlessness which can be solved through popular action and political will. With many of the causes of poverty global in nature, members of Oxfam International believe they can achieve greater impact in addressing issues of poverty by their collective efforts.
To achieve the maximum impact on poverty, Oxfams link up their work on development programs, humanitarian response, lobbying for policy changes at national and global level, and popular campaigns and communications work aimed at mobilizing public opinion for change.
Oxfam members are independent secular organizations, working with all people regardless of race or religion. Oxfam members have no religious or political affiliations. "
