UK record label, home of Faze Action, Roy Davis jr. and many others
"Sav Remzi met David Hill in 1994 whilst promoting an influential London club called London Xpress, which featured the Ballistic Brothers; Ashley Beedle, Rocky, Diesel and David. Having found a common ground in their musical tastes, David and Sav united to form Nuphonic Records in early 1995.
David's soulful roots and diverse musical tastes were to provide Nuphonic with an open minded and generative A+R direction. Whilst setting up and steering the young company, David continued his work with the Ballistic Brothers, co-producing the albums 'London Hooligan Soul' on Junior Boys Own and 'Rude System' on the Ballistic Brothers Sound Boy label. In 1995, soon after the set up of Nuphonic, Sav took the opportunity to direct the Blue Note club in Hoxton Square where he developed ground breaking club nights.
Mid 1995 saw the release of Faze Action's 'Full Motion EP', Nuphonic's first release. By fusing classic string arrangements with a dubbed-out disco beat, Faze Action was to lay some good ground for the label's future output. The band went on to produce the singles 'Turn the Point' and 'In the Trees' which became club classics. Their album, 'Plans and Designs', was released in summer 1997 to great critical acclaim, and marked the labels first album release and artist signing.
Since then, Nuphonic has released a number of singles incorporating a broad range of sounds and styles. Amongst them, early projects with the likes of Blaze, Ashley Beedle, Idjut Boys, Diesel, and remixes by producers such as Andrew Weatherall, Talvin Singh, Aquasky and Justin Robertson, further fortified Nuphonic's presence as a label of quality output.
In addition to music production, Nuphonic also operates a publishing arm, Nuphonic Music with Edel/
Sony, and a management/production division which programmes world renowned DJ's for radio, gig and festival productions across Europe and the UK. London Xpress is Nuphonic's own radio production and features one-off shows presented by the most influential figures in dance music."
